End of Summer!!!

Can you believe it's the end of summer!  Well, here's another class that I forgot to post photos for....and I completely missed taking photos of the tiger and Grand Canyon classes!  So sorry about that!  When class gets busy, I always seem to miss taking them.  It's been a while since we did the red barn, so here's a couple of photos of your works in progress.  Great job!!

Happy Painting!!!!!!

Muting colors....

My style is typically very vibrant...could be a personality thing...but muting colors is an important part of painting.  Every color on this little foggy painting has been de-saturated or muted in some way.  Had I used the paints right out of the tube, I would not have achieved this foggy effect.  Happy Painting!!!

I hope everyone got out there and voted today!!!

I've got a new phone....

And....it has a camera on it. Hopefully that will mean I'll take it out and take photos during the classes. That being said, here are a couple of Florida's fine ladies working on their paintings from this past Thursday. Aren't they amazing! After getting a late start and past the fire alarms...(yep they went off during class)...everyone came back and did beautiful paintings. Great job!!

Easy Seascapes...

This painting is a practice painting of an easy seascape. Now I know I tend to post some of the more complicated paintings here on the blog (and also teach them in my classes sometimes), but you really need to get the basic transparent wave down by doing these less complicated seascapes. Am I saying it takes practice? Oh yes!!! Now that doesn't mean that you can't paint something worth hanging on your wall while working on your technique. But don't be a "one hit wonder"! The idea is that YOU are in control of your brushes. That you can consistently produce the transparent wave whenever you want, wherever you want on the canvas, and facing it on any side, color etc. You're doing this because you love it right?! So paint, paint, paint!!! Once you're comfortable with this, you can move on to work on the more complicated stuff. Happy Painting!!!

Latest Seascape...

I'm so excited! I've already got students for my first class here in Florida and they haven't even seen the painting I'm doing yet!!! Wehoo!!!

Here's a seascape I finished yesterday. All of you who've taken my seascape class...you know how to do most of this!!! This is the larger format, 16 x 20 inch size. This may be an upcoming class for 2011. Remember seascapes are all about the angles. Happy painting!

Christmas is right around the corner!!!

Time is going by so quickly this year. I think time really does fly when you're having fun! The photo is of my Mom and two of my nieces at Thanksgiving. The girls were shaking the presents with their names on them under the tree, mostly trying to determine what was toys and what was clothes!! They were too funny!

The end of the year is fast approaching and I'm busy getting ready for the holidays, preparing for my classes in Florida, shipping out paintings that have been sold, and trying to stay warm!! No wonder I don't have any time right now!

As an update, I'm planning on starting back up the classes in Northern Ky April 23rd 2011. Now, I still have to get approval on that, but that's what I'm shooting for. Those of you on my email list, will hear from me before then. If you're not on the list, but want to be, email me or post a comment and I'll get back with you and sign you up. Happy painting!!!

My New Camera

I just bought my daughter's old digital camera...which is very advanced for me! It takes great photos with little effort. Sometimes a little technology is a very good thing!!! This photo is a painting for an upcoming class.
